 Sen. Lieberman has indicated he plans to join with Republicans to filibuster any health care bill that contains a public option. Alone, the Republicans don't have the votes for a filibuster. So by joining with them, Lieberman would be tipping the balance of power in order to sink health care reform.

President Obama has declared a national emergency for the swine flu, noting a "rapid increase in illness." A recent CNN article covering this critical topic goes on to quote CDC director Dr. Thomas Frieden, "since the H1N1 flu pandemic began in April, millions of people in the United States have been infected, at least 20,000 have been hospitalized and more than 1,000 have died."

Yet excellent investigative reporting by CBS News shows that the actual number of swine flu cases is being significantly exaggerated. The lead paragraph of this CBS article states, "If you've been diagnosed 'probable' or 'presumed' 2009 H1N1 or swine flu in recent months, you may be surprised to know this: odds are you didn’t have H1N1 flu. In fact, you probably didn’t have the flu at all. That's according to state-by-state test results obtained in a three-month-long CBS News investigation."

The CBS report goes on to point out that the CDC strangely advised states to stop testing and to stop counting the number of swine flu cases last July. The CDC website explains that states are no longer differentiating between the regular flu and the swine flu, reporting instead all influenza and pneumonia-related hospitalizations and deaths in one count.

This alone could lead to a great exaggeration of reported swine flu cases, particularly as the CDC website states that every year in the U.S. on average 5 to 20% of the population gets the seasonal flu. This means between 15 and 60 million people come down with some version of the flu every year. Complications from the seasonal flu are claimed to kill about 36,000 people (100 per day on average), while more than 200,000 are hospitalized annually.

Why on Earth would the CDC decide to stop counting swine flu cases? The CBS website states, "The rationale given for the CDC guidance to forego testing and tracking individual cases was: why waste resources testing for H1N1 flu when the government has already confirmed there's an epidemic?"

The CDC website gives several puzzling reasons, including "there are too many cases of flu to test and confirm." Yet with millions of cases of cancer and heart disease every year, states have never been told to stop testing for these. If the swine flu is as dangerous and deadly as alleged, we would expect more testing and not a halt.

The CBS article further elaborates, "Some public health officials privately disagreed with the decision to stop testing and counting, telling CBS News that continued tracking of this new and possibly changing virus was important because H1N1 has a different epidemiology, affects younger people more than seasonal flu and has been shown to have a higher case fatality rate than other flu virus strains."

CBS reporters asked CDC to provide materials from states on lab-confirmed swine flu cases before the count stopped in July. CDC not only was initially unwilling to provide the information, they obstructed the investigation (watch CBS News clip on this). CBS then submitted a freedom of information request to HHS (Department of Health and Human Services) for this same information, but again received no response for two months. So the intrepid CBS team requested the information directly from all 50 states.

On receiving these statistics, CBS reporters were astounded to find that for cases labeled probable or presumed swine flu, further testing showed that "the vast majority of cases were negative for H1N1 as well as seasonal flu, despite the fact that many states were specifically testing patients deemed to be most likely to have H1N1 flu, based on symptoms and risk factors, such as travel to Mexico."

Many states found that only 1 - 2% of "probable" or "presumed" swine flu cases in fact were swine flu. It may be that because of all the hype and fear being spread by the media and government, people's heightened anxiety and fear of having the dreaded swine flu caused them to go to their doctor for a simple fever, headache, or runny nose, thus leading to a very large number of false assessments.

The numbers of swine flu cases thus appear to have been greatly exaggerated even before July. And as the CDC ordered states to stop counting in July, we have no way to make an accurate count now. Thus the numbers being used by the media and fed to people like President Obama have no reliable value and can be even further inflated, leading to even more fear and false claims of swine flu.

Consider also that with the CDC's claim of 100 deaths per day due to the regular flu, even if the figure of 1,000 deaths in the past six months due to swine flu were true, it is far less than the death toll of even one month of the seasonal flu.

One claim used to promote fear is that the flu season is just starting. The public will be in great danger when the season soon kicks into full gear. Yet the flu season in the southern hemisphere, which has seasons opposite to the north, is now over, and the swine flu did not wreak havoc as predicted.

A September Reuters News article states, "The U.S. government said an analysis of the epidemics in Australia, Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, and Uruguay showed that while H1N1 dominated the flu seasons there, it was only moderately severe. The pandemic did stress healthcare systems, but not for long."

Why would the CDC exaggerate the risk of this disease? According to the CDC website, "The federal government has purchased a total of 250 million doses of 2009 H1N1 vaccine." Remember that the U.S. population is about 300 million. The CDC has spent billions of our tax dollars to purchase these vaccines and obviously wants nearly everyone to get vaccinated. The drug companies have raked in billions of dollars in profits from this vaccine, even if a large portion of the vaccines is never used.

The government has also granted immunity from lawsuits to vaccine producers, so that those injured or killed by the vaccine may have no recourse for settlement. Maybe they learned from their mistakes with the 1976 swine flu scare, in which over 40 million Americans were vaccinated after government and media joined to pump fear out to the nation.

Only one person was confirmed dead from the actual swine flu in 1976, yet hundreds filed death claims and thousands filed claims for paralysis from the swine flu vaccine. The vaccine caused Guillain-Barre Syndrome, an acknowledged risk factor with the current vaccine. Numerous top MDs and health professionals have publicly stated that our health care system and even our politicians have been seriously corrupted by the vast wealth of the pharmaceutical industry. The major media, which receives billions of dollars in advertising money from drug companies, has barely reported on this.

And here's a quote from an article by Dr. George Lundberg, the former editor-in-chief of the highly respected Journal of the American Medical Association:

"Efforts to control American medical costs date from at least 1932. With few exceptions, they have failed. The lure of economic incentives to provide unnecessary or unproven care ... drives many physicians to make the lucrative choice. Hospitals and especially academic medical centers are also motivated to profit from many expensive procedures. Eliminating ... waste could save $750 billion annually with no harm to patient outcomes."

The powerful pharmaceutical lobby has played a key role in causing U.S. health costs to be 50% higher than that of most other developed nations, yet as this MSNBC article states, "The United States is the only developed nation that does not have a comprehensive national health care plan, leaving about 50 million people without health insurance."

Now the drug companies are using their power and influence to get politicians and the media behind the lucrative, yet questionable swine flu vaccine. The Plague, the Flu, and You

(OMNS, October 27, 2009) Swine flu. Bird flu. The media has everyone worrying about epidemics and pandemics. Yet there is nothing said about one of the great communicable diseases of all time: the plague. The Black Death. No, it is not extinct. There are new cases of plague in the United States every year, totaling over 400 cases since 1950.

Why isn't your doctor urging you to get one? Do you know anyone who has had a plague vaccination? Then why is there no plague epidemic? And why is vaccination supposedly the only way to stop a flu epidemic?

One proffered explanation is that the diseases are dissimilar, because influenza is viral, and plague is bacterial. But tetanus is bacterial, and we aggressively vaccinate against that. Indeed, the CDC http://www.cdc.gov/ncird/dbd.html specifies a considerable number of Vaccine Preventable Diseases http://www.cdc.gov/ncird/dbd.html#meningvpd which are bacterial. These include, among others: anthrax, bacterial meningitis, diphtheria, Haemophilus influenzae serotype b, and, of course, pertussis (whooping cough).

Plague is not even on the CDC's list. Wait a minute! The Black Death, the disease that killed at least a quarter of Europe, hasn't even made the list of Vaccine Preventable Diseases?

Worldwide, there are over 2,000 cases, and hundreds of deaths, every year from the plague. In the United States, human plague cases average about 10 to 15 per year. http://www.dhpe.org/infect/plague.html Most cases are in the Southwest. http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/plague/plagwest.htm CDC states that "persons who have regular contact with wild rodents or their fleas" in areas in which plague has occurred should be vaccinated. That's right, it isn't just rats that carry the fleas that carry the plague. Squirrels, mice, rabbits, coyotes, woodchucks, cats and dogs all carry fleas. Fleas are found everywhere. Then why isn't plague everywhere?

One explanation is that plague is climate related. But there aren't. If plague is temperature-dependent, it is a confusing illness to say the least: how come almost all USA cases are in the warm, dry Southwest and yet plague decimated Europe in the 1300s? Perhaps plague does not spread because disease-carrying insects don't migrate very much. You wish. Insects spread rather rapidly. The Japanese beetle is an example. First discovered in the US in 1916, and seemingly limited to a one-half square mile area, in less than five years it had spread to 213 square miles of New Jersey. http://www.mosquito.rutgers.edu/jb.htm. In far less than a human lifetime, these insects took over twenty states, from Maine to Montana to South Carolina. Insects are everywhere. That does not exclude fleas.

Unfortunately, rats have spread everywhere, too. No major city, town or farm is free of them.

What is striking about the plague is that it is still around and practically no one gets it. One must keep in mind that this disease killed 50 million people. Eventually, the great Black Death epidemics ended. Somehow. The epidemics were not stopped by killing every flea, every rodent or every house pet. The epidemics were not stopped by antibiotics, nor were the epidemics stopped by mass vaccination. Neither were available.

So if you, and the entire population of the USA, are not vaccinated against the plague, why doesn't it spread now in 2009 the way it spread in the past, killing at least one in four?

Generally, improved sanitation and improved nutrition are credited with such a victory.

If these work with plague, they might make a rather big impact on the flu.

Gout comes with killer pain... but Colchys, the latest FDA-approved preventive treatment, could really kill you.

People throughout Europe are rejecting the H1N1 vaccine en mass, despite huge campaigns by their governments to get them to take the shot when it becomes available within the next week.

In Germany uproar continues to grow concerning the fact that German Chancellor Angela Merkel and government ministers, as well as the armed forces there, will receive a special, additive-free H1N1 vaccine.

The soldiers and the German government elites will receive Celvapan, an adjuvant-free vaccine manufactured by Baxter. The German public, however, will receive a vaccine produced by GlaxoSmithKline which contains squalene and the mercury based preservative thimerosal.

A report yesterday in the leading German newspaper Die Welt describes the public sentiment towards the news:

That throws a treacherous light on the announcements of the German health ministry and the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) responsible for vaccines. Why should the government and high-ranking officials get special treatment, the people who they rule over are asking. The dirty word of a “two-tier medicine” comes to mind. And then thoughts turn to Orwell’s novel “Animal Farm” where all are equal but “some are more equal.”

Polls in Germany, even before this news, have indicated that only one third of the population are interested in receiving the H1N1 vaccination.

Last week Spiegel reported that there has been an “open rebellion” by general medical professionals and child physicians in Germany over use of the toxic vaccine. Dieter Ludwig, chairman of the drug commission of the German medical profession, told Spiegel that health authorities have colluded with pharmaceutical companies.

The H1N1 vaccine will arrive too late to help most Americans who will be infected during this flu season, according to a study conducted by scholars at Purdue University.

The study also estimates that the virus - commonly referred to as the swine flu bug - will infect about 60 percent of the U.S. population, although only about 25 percent of Americans will fall ill.

Published Oct. 15 in Eurosurveillance, a scientific journal devoted to epidemiology and the surveillance and control of communicable diseases, the study was conducted by professors Sherry Towers and Zhilan Feng of, respectively, Purdue's statistics and mathematics departments.

"The model predicts that there will be a significant wave in autumn, with 63% of the population being infected, and that this wave will peak so early that the planned [U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] vaccination campaign will likely not have a large effect on the total number of people ultimately infected by the pandemic H1N1 influenza virus," the authors wrote in their study.

60 Minutes on H1N1 October 18, 2009

You can see the 60 minutes interview from 1977, over 30 years ago. This is in stark contrast to this segment. Admittedly it was done long after the damage was done but if you look at 4:15 you will see one of the CDC consultants clearly state he warned them of this danger and yet when the CDC head is confronted with this, he denies it.

 

60 Minutes Episode on H1N1 from 30 years ago

Do you think much has changed in the last 30 years? If anything, conflict of interest has gotten much worse.

This past Sunday's 60 Minutes segment did ask some hard questions to the Assistant Surgeon General. However, what was missing is that they didn't ask why CDC officials persist in telling the public that this H1N1 strain of influenza is quite dangerous when the experience of those in the southern hemisphere, which just finished their flu season, is in direct conflict with what the CDC is telling the American people.

Overall 60 Minutes did a fairly good, objective piece of journalism that told the truth. They even pressured the Assistant Surgeon General about the vaccine's safety. On one hand, she's hitching her safety statements to the fact that the H1N1 vaccine is similar to seasonal influenza vaccine, and therefore "safe," even though she realistically CAN'T say that the new H1N1 swine flu vaccine is safe, or that it has been thoroughly tested because it only has been tested for a few weeks.

On the other hand CDC officials are screaming that H1N1 is so different from the seasonal influenza strains that have circulated in the past few decades that a national alarm must be sounded and everyone needs to be so afraid that we all should get vaccinated to prevent a deadly pandemic. This is completely inconsistent and irrational logic.

Come on CDC, you simply can't have it both ways.

Questions that Were Are Not Being Asked

The interviewer on the 60 Minutes segment did ask some hard questions, but he, like most of the mainstream media did not ask important questions that are absolutely essential to understand precisely what is going on with this "pandemic"

There have been 81 children who have died from H1N1 in the US. These of course are tragic.

How many pediatric deaths occurred in children who:

• Were positively lab confirmed as H1N1;

• Had underlying chronic immune and brain dysfunction

• Were fully vaccinated according to CDC recommendations

• Had received influenza vaccine this year

• Had received seasonal influenza vaccine in previous years

• Received Tamiflu or another anti-viral prior to death

• Had a coinciding bacterial infection with H1N1

• Were never vaccinated - totally unvaccinated

Other Important Observations on the Segment

It is quite clear from the video that Luke did not get worse until after he visited the physician and was given an antipyretic and possibly Tamiflu. Certainly it could have been coincidence but it is an interesting observation.

No mention was made if Luke had been vaccinated for seasonal or H1N1?

Additionally there was no reference made to the last swine flu epidemic in the US when 50 million people got the swine flu vaccine and more people died from the vaccine than the swine flu itself -- and that's not counting all those that developed permanent neurological damage.

Why is no one reminding the public of this well documented and vitally important part of vaccine history?

Your Immune System is Perfectly Capable of Fighting H1N1

Additionally what the 60 minutes segment failed to mention is that it is relatively easy to improve your immune response to fight this infection.

If 99.9% of the people are not having any serious complications from the infection, it would seem perfectly rational to believe that minor lifestyle changes could have dramatic effects on fighting this infection, and none of these involve taking potentially dangerous and unproven vaccine interventions.

Simple Measures That Can Help You Fight Illness

• Vitamin D has been well documented to increase the production of over 200 anti microbial peptides that fight infection.

• Eliminate sugar from your diet as that will impair your immune response

• Get plenty of rest

• Exercise appropriately

• Take appropriate supplements like oil of oregano extract, propolis, olive leaf extract, elder flower extract, acerola, DMG.

However you will need to know the above BEFORE you purchase any supplements on that list. Any company that informs you of the above will be in violation of US Federal law and a newly created Swine Flu Task Force has been given the authority to shut the business down and even throw owners in jail.

Violations of these new rules are being prosecuted even more aggressively than alternative cancer treatments. Earlier this week, Dr. Andrew Weil actually received an FDA/FTC warning letter that threatens jail time for failure to comply with the rules.

3) The Canadian preliminary study is provocative in that it suggests those who have gotten seasonal influenza vaccine in the past may be at greater risk for getting H1N1 and having complications. This reinforces NVIC's call for a comparison of vaccinated vs. unvaccinated individuals for all health outcomes.
