June 30 Nutrient density is the key to good health
nsity is the key to good health
About this video
What should we eat?
Trying to follow a "diet" can drive you crazy and study after study show they don't work.
So what to do?
There is a simple answer: focus on eating foods with high nutritional density - and
get your calories from quality foods.
My friends Jeff Nelson produced this video and posted it on YouTube in November of 2008 and already, as of this writing, it's had 4,443,207 views.
Dear friends,
We went to war in Iraq because of the fear of nuclear weapons, and right now we have a chance to get rid of them once and for all.
President Obama and his administration are preparing to set US nuclear weapons policy for the next decade, embodied in a document called the Nuclear Posture Review. The question is, will he go beyond undoing the bad policies of the past by institutionalizing his vision of a world with nuclear weapons?
During his speech in Prague this April, the President stated "clearly and with conviction America's commitment to seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons." [1] But he's up against stiff opposition, as many members of Congress, the Department of Energy, and the Pentagon are sure to fight tooth and nail. [2] That's why we need President Obama to ingrain his vision of a nuclear weapons free world in the Nuclear Posture Review. Ask President Obama and his administration to put his vision in writing today.
With more than 20,000 nuclear weapons in existence today, we can't afford to continue the status quo. A failure to act now would allow future leaders to revert to the reckless policies of our recent past, like withdrawing from international arms control agreements and seeking to develop new nuclear weapons. [3] Unless we make a sharp break with outdated Cold War policies, the future is likely to hold more countries with nuclear weapons, and a greater chance of deadly accidents -- or even nuclear war. Send a message right now urging the Obama administration to make the goal of a nuclear weapons free world part of official US policy. June 28
How to fix the health care system
The bottom line!
Jeff Novick used to use his scientific training in the service of the processed food industry. Then as he began to learn more about health and the effect of food on health he did a rapid about face.
How do we fix the medical-industrial complex?
How do we keep it from ruining so many lives and bankrupting the nation? How do we stop it from causing so much needless suffering? How to stop it from prematurely ending so many lives and crippling many others?
I'm inclined to agree with Novick.
The level of institutionally entrenched waste, incompetence, corruption and in some cases malevolence has reached such a level, it may be unfixable.
But that doesn't me you and the people you love have to go down with the ship.
Take advantage of the videos on TheRealFoodChannel.com and share them with your friends, neighbors and loved ones.
There's a positive revolution going on and you can not only become part of it, but also be one the the beneficiaries.
Your health is in your hands and is not dependent on the good will of the government of the medical-industrial complex.

What has happened is that bloggers have blown the support columns out from underneath traditional media and the people who run the show don’t like that.
The fact that some of us are able to survive by maintaining blogs must have come as an incredible shock to fat bastards in boardrooms across the land. That we are not “regulated” is unthinkable in the Soviet hive mind that governs the political economy of the United States.
Wall Street firms have made off with an unknown sum of taxpayer money and the mom who makes $800 per month from her blogs (see the article below) is going to have comply with FTC regulations?
Of course, comrade. People who read blogs can’t be trusted to think for themselves. And those swarthy bloggers, why… There ought to be a law!
This is what states do that are well down the path to collapse.
Why should I care about being regulated since I already overtly disclose my financial situation?
How much of my day will I have to spend on complying with this? How many forms will I have to fill out? Will I have to pay a fee to government regulators so that I can continue to make less than minimum wage to run this site? All of that is unknown at this point.
Go ahead, Uncle $cam. Try it. Not only do I need a good laugh, but this will do more to erode what remains of your power than any of your enemies could have hoped to accomplish by other means.
Via: AP:
If the guidelines are approved, bloggers would have to back up claims and disclose if they’re being compensated — the FTC doesn’t currently plan to specify how. The FTC could order violators to stop and pay restitution to customers, and it could ask the Justice Department to sue for civil penalties.
Any type of blog could be scrutinized, not just ones that specialize in reviews.
So parents keeping blogs to update family members on their child’s first steps technically would fall under the FTC guidelines, though they likely would have little to worry about unless they accept payments or free products and write about them.
But they would need to think twice if, for instance, they praise parenting books they’ve just read and include links to buy them at a retailer like Amazon.com Inc.
That’s because the guidelines also would cover the broader and common practice of affiliate marketing, in which bloggers and other sites get a commission when someone clicks on a link that leads to a purchase at a retailer. In such cases, merchants also would be responsible for actions by their sales agents — including a network of bloggers.
Amazon declined to comment.

Dear Ron,
More fighter jets. President Obama hasn't asked for them, Defense Secretary Gates doesn't want them, but our representatives in Congress are planning to waste money on them anyway. We can stop it. Click here to urge your representative to cut funding for the F-22.
In an effort to trim the substantial fat in the military budget, the Obama administration decided to cut back on its order of new F-22s. These fighter planes were designed to fight planes from the Soviet Union, and are now obsolete. In spite of all this, the House Armed Services Committee added $369 million as a down payment on twelve F-22s, with a long-term cost of $2 billion.
Where did they find this money in the midst of a budget crunch? They took it from a fund to clean up hazardous nuclear waste. There's no excuse for this irresponsible behavior. The House could vote on an amendment to put the money back into environmental cleanup as soon as tomorrow. Urge your representative to vote yes. Click here.
This isn't about making Americans safer - it's all about the money. The weapons lobby is incredibly powerful, and they spend millions to influence Congress. They put suppliers and plants in 44 different states, making it a favorite for lawmakers trying to bring money back to their districts. While members of Congress are saying they can't pay for things like health care that would actually improve the quality of life for millions of people, they have no problem throwing money at a program the President, Secretary of Defense and American people don't want. Now is the time to show that the American people want smart policies that meet real needs. Because thousands of you spoke out earlier this year, we cut $1 billion in the stimulus bill for the nuclear weapons complex. Let's work together for another victory. Take action today.
Thank you for doing your part to hold Congress accountable.

Rainforest Alliance vs. Fairtrade Labeling
McDonald's, Chiquita, Mars, Wal-Mart, and Kraft apparently now all have products certified "sustainable," sharing, among other things, the little green frog label of the Rainforest Alliance. On the other side of the labeling world, we have Fair Trade, the original product certification initiative aimed at building equitable and sustainable trading partnerships and creating opportunities to alleviate poverty. What's the difference? See a comparison here.

A Critique of Some Recent Articles on Genetically Engineered Wheat
As reported in Organic Bytes #176, Monsanto and the biotech industry are mobilizing their propaganda machine to force-feed genetically engineered (GE) wheat to consumers. A recent poll reveals, however, that 69 percent of Canadian wheat farmers are opposed to "franken-wheat", given the fact that it's banned in Europe, and most U.S. consumers don't want it. As a result, the biotech industry is attempting to shift public perception by inundating the press with genetically engineered misinformation. The OCA's Honor Schauland takes a look at some recent quotes spewing out of the GE-wheat spin machine, most of which are more humorous than factual.

June 22 "They knew and didn't tell"
We all know how utterly corrupt the FDA is, but sometimes the full significance of this fact doesn't resonate.
This video is a major wake up call.
Short version:
The FDA gave Monsanto and it friends a free pass on genetically modified organisms.
They've helped suppress the science that shows food produced this way is dangerous.
Here are the foods that are genetically modified: milk, corn, soybeans, canola oil and cottonseed oil.
One simple way to protect yourself is to stop eating these foods unless they come from a certified organic source.

Quote of the Week
"Scientists at Duke University in North Carolina have created pollen models that show tree pollen traveling from a forest in North Carolina for over 1,000 kilometers northward into eastern Canada. Scientists researching sterility in trees have admitted that 100 percent guaranteed sterility in GE trees is impossible. This evidence implies that if GE trees are released into the environment, widespread and irreversible contamination of native forests cannot be prevented."

A Quarter Million Experimental "Frankentrees" to Be Grown in U.S
The USDA is currently taking public comments on whether or not the company ArborGen should be allowed to conduct 29 field trials of genetically engineered "cold tolerant" eucalyptus trees in the U.S. This massive experiment, which is on the verge of being green-lighted, will literally be using nature as the laboratory to test more than 260,000 frankentrees. Scientists across the U.S. are voicing concerns over this proposal including:
-The USDA failed to do an Environmental Impact Statement to assess potential negative issues related to the proposed field trials.
-The spread of the these plants into the wild through seeds and plant matter is highly likely, and the impacts on native ecosystems from this invader are unknown
.-One of the experimental GE tree varieties is a known host for cryptococcus gatti, a fatal fungal pathogen whose spores cause meningitis in people and animals.
Comments are being accepted by the USDA until July 6, 2009.

Tell Obama & Vilsack to Drop Bush's Pro-GMO Rules
Just before leaving office, the Bush Administration released a new federal law that would significantly weaken the regulation of genetically engineered crops. Please join the Organic Consumers Association in pressing President Obama and USDA Secretary Vilsack to drop Bush's pro-GMO rule. The rule would increase contamination of organic and conventional crops and release the USDA from the responsibility to remedy GMO contamination. It would let the GE pharmacrop industry gene-splice dangerous drugs and industrial chemicals into plants and food crops in the open environment. In addition, the rule would give the biotech industry the power to decide whether their new genetically engineered crops should be subject to regulation at all. In the 2008 presidential race, Obama promised "change we can believe in." We need a change from the Bush Administration's pro-GMO policies.

Dear NaturalNews readers,
Scientists have found out what really causes cancer. And guess what? It's exactly as we've been talking about here on NaturalNews for years.
Cancer is caused by a miscommunication between cells that allows them to grow in an incontrolled manner, unbridled by their neighboring cells which are calling for the cancerous cells to self-terminate.
But there's one amazing nutrient that allows cells to re-establish healthy communication, ending the cancerous growth and halting cancer before it can really get started. That nutrient, not surprisingly, is vitamin D.
Today's feature story by Sherry Baker reveals what western scientists have now discovered about vitamin D, and why it is the answer for preventing cancer:

Well-reasoned foreign policy results in more housing and jobs, better health care and education. When that policy consists of applying a military solution to a political problem, however, it results in death, destruction, and suffering. I witnessed the latter during my recent trip to Afghanistan--the devastating consequences of U.S. airstrikes on thousands of innocent civilians. The footage you are about to see is poignant, heart-wrenching, and often a direct result of U.S. foreign policy. It came from a combination of filmmakers: Nazir, a man who tracked me down through Facebook, met me at the Kabul airport, and showed me segments of his exclusive look inside Afghan refugee camps; a stringer we hired who was arrested by the Taliban in filming a bombing victim in Kandahar; and my own interviews while in Kabul. Together, we bring you Rethink Afghanistan: Civilian Casualties. Clearly we must help the refugees whose lives have been shattered by U.S. foreign policy and military attacks. Here's how you can take action:
- Digg this video. Just one click can help this video land on the Digg homepage, where it can reach tens of thousands of new people!
- Provide aid through The Afghan Women's Mission to the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA), which is directly helping the refugees in these camps. We have partnered with these groups, and RAWA will go to the camps in this video to help those most in need. On their website, you can provide emergency relief to refugees, enable Afghans to visit the doctor, and help educate women and children to ensure women's rights are respected.
- Become a Peacemaker: Receive up-to-the-minute information through our new mobile alert system whenever there are Afghan civilian casualties from this war. Then take immediate action by calling our government and posting on social networking sites.
Here's why it's even more critical for you to take action now. Earlier this week, the House of Representatives narrowly approved $106 billion in wartime funding, despite an incredible progressive movement that inundated Congress with calls and helped move votes into the "No" column. This bill will escalate military operations in Afghanistan, which is all the more reason why we must help the civilians affected by U.S. airstrikes now, and help our government see the need for a more humanitarian foreign policy. Yours,
Ron G. June 17
Dick Cheney says that torturing detainees has saved American lives. That claim is patently false. Cheney's torture policy was directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of American servicemen and women.
Matthew Alexander was the senior military interrogator for the task force that tracked down Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq and, at the time, a higher priority target than Osama bin Laden. Mr. Alexander has personally conducted hundreds of interrogations and supervised over a thousand of them.
"Torture does not save lives. Torture costs us lives," Mr. Alexander said in an exclusive interview at Brave New Studios. "And the reason why is that our enemies use it, number one, as a recruiting tool...These same foreign fighters who came to Iraq to fight because of torture and abuse....literally cost us hundreds if not thousands of American lives." Watch our exclusive interview with Matthew Alexander. As Ryan Grim at the Huffington Post reported, "Alexander easily takes down Cheney's arguments...The video is at once an effective rebuke of the former vice president and a sign of how the changing media landscape can flatten the field of political debate."
As you read this, Iranians are voting in one of their most highly anticipated elections in decades. Whatever the outcome of the election, both the US and Iranian governments will need to catch up to their citizens-we are ready for peace.
This isn't just something I've read or heard -- I documented it in both countries to break through the fear propagated by politicians and pundits. Click here to watch our video of peace messages from Iranians and Americans. Then join thousands of Citizen Diplomats who are fighting fear with the truth.
Together we have to stand strong. The notorious fear-mongering group United Against a Nuclear Iran, cofounded by Obama's Iran adviser Dennis Ross, just released a TV ad designed to scare people about Iran's nuclear program. This week, Republicans in the House pulled a ridiculous stunt, trying to force a vote on Iran sanctions to send a message to Iranians right before their election. We need to make sure Americans see the true desires of Iranians and Americans, not more scare tactics and saber-rattling. Watch our video and honor these voices by committing to participate in the movement for diplomacy with Iran.

We cannot afford expanded warfare and expanded health care at the same time.
I urge you to oppose the $95 billion Supplemental Appropriations which will keep U.S. troops in Iraq indefinitely and expand the senseless war in Afghanistan/Pakistan.
I urge you to use those funds instead to provide health care to the 45 million Americans who cannot afford it, either through an immediate Single Payer system like Rep. Conyers' H.R. 676, or a "Public Option" that leads directly to Single Payer.

Dear friends,
Just a quick update on the vote for the war supplemental funding bill.
There was rumor that the House might vote today but since the leadership still does not have the votes, the vote has not been scheduled.
According to Democrats.com which is keeping a running head count on likely votes:
"All 178 House Republicans plan to vote against the $100 billion Iraq/AfPak War Supplemental to protest $5 billion for the International Monetary Fund. That means 39 Democratic opponents could defeat the bill. 36 Democrats promised to vote no, so we only need 3 more."
Only three more votes and the war funding bill can be stopped.
Please call your representative in the Congress and urge them to vote "no" on the war supplemental. Call 202-224-3121.
Please take action now. Defeat of the war funding bill would be a tremendous victory for the anti-war movement and will push the Congress and White House to reconsider their plans and let them know how weak support for the war is in Congress and among the people. Doctors Call for Ban on Genetically Modified Foods
On May 19, 2009 the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) released a landmark position paper signed by physicians across the U.S. calling for a moratorium on GE foods:
"Avoid GM (genetically modified) foods when possible... Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food... There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation...The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies."
